Books don’t close until Aug. 31
The total of funds raised at the 2015 American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Greene County has surpassed the $50,000 mark, the organizing committee learned at a wrap-up meeting Thursday.
Fifteen teams raised a total of $21,057.91, with Home State Bank’s Team Towers leading the way at $6,073.84. The Cancer Crusaders raised $2,594.55, and the BPO Does raised $2,305.25. Teams raising more than $1,000 included the Holy Walkamolies, NHS Stompers and Greene County Medical Center. The Greene County basketball team donated $1,500 from its Pink Out activities.
Cash sponsorships totaled almost $13,000, with another $6,300 in in-kind sponsorships. The silent auction raised $5,734, its highest total ever. Two new events, the Lip Sync Challenge and the Bank Challenge together contributed more than $350 to the total.
The books won’t close on the 2015 Relay for Life until Aug. 31. Donations can be made at the Jefferson office of Peoples Trust & Savings Bank.
The committee set April 23, 2016, as the tentative date for next year’s Relay.
